Going forward together in Christ

Scripture Reading: Numbers 32:16-23

Num 32,17 but we ourselves will be ready armed to go before the children of Israel, until we have brought them unto their place and our little ones shall dwell in the fortified cities because of the inhabitants of the land.

Num 32,18 We will not return unto our houses, until the children of Israel have inherited every man his inheritance.

Num 32,19 For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan, and forward; because our inheritance is fallen to us on this side of the Jordan eastward.

History

In the 40th year, the twelve tribes got ready to cross the Jordan river to take the promised land. Two and a half tribes (Reuben, Gad and ˝ Manasse) already received their inheritance on the east side of Jordan. Yet they were willing to help their brothers to conquer the land until they all had their inheritance.

12 tribes – they all had the same father (Jacob), but they had four different mothers. Yet they were all called “Israelites”. Every tribe had a distinct banner or flag. They were all different, had a different “home training” from their mothers, yet they fought for the same goal: to take the land for their possession as the Lord had promised them.

Ex 6,8 And I will bring you in unto the land which I sware to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for a heritage: I am Jehovah.

Lev 20,24 But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey: I am Jehovah your God, who hath separated you from the peoples.

Deut 34,4 And Jehovah said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed…

Don’t we too have a promise that our Lord Jesus Christ will give us the Land, the inhabitants therein in order that He can set up His Kingdom?
Jos 1,3 Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, to you have I given it…

Yet did you realize that they all went together to conquer the land? We do not read that just one or two tribes took the land.

How does this speak to us?

We all have the same Father (God), but we have different mothers (denominations) where we grew up und got our teachings and doctrines. But don’t be foolish to think that you can win Switzerland by your denomination or church only. If that would work, you would easily become proud and have all the other ministers admire you, asking about the formula with which you reached this Nation for Christ. But God will never give His Glory to a human or to a church.

It is easy to realize that we need each other to go forward to take Switzerland for Christ. Imagine,
if all the pastors, preachers, leaders, ministers of the Gospel of every denomination here in Switzerland would come together “as one man” and pray (and forget about his or her denomination), what do you think would happen here in Switzerland? I believe revival would break out and thousands would come to Christ. And our churches would fill up for the Glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are not coming together on the basis of our doctrines but on the basis of our belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, crucified and risen on the third day, now seated by the right Hand of God.
The Great Commission has nothing to do with our different doctrines but with reaching out together and taking the land as one man.
Mt 28,19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
Mt 28,20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Do you realize that before we baptize and teach the people we first have to go and make disciples. And when we do that the result will be:
Mk 16,20 And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen.
